Nobody is born knowing who they are. Many ancient societies put their children through rituals that helped them learn who they were, but modern western society does nothing of the sort. As much as we learn from the schooling system, it doesn’t teach us anything about who we are as individuals. Until you understand who you are, you will not find your purpose in life. This is the source of much of the suffering in the world.
It is important to realize that, as a human being, you need to embrace not only your similarities with those around you, but your differences. The things that make you unique are the most important things about you, and learning to harness these differences is the key to becoming great.
What Do I Mean When I Say “Know Yourself?”
It’s not uncommon for people to go through life complaining about the things around them. Many of dothiswithout even realizing it. Those who do recognize this flaw often have no idea what to do about it, or fail to recognize it as a flaw.
Upon deeper reflection, however, we realize that the negativity we have toward the world is actually directed at ourselves. When we don’t knowourselves,we only know what we don’t like. By building a deep inner connection with ourselves, we come to realize our true potential, and start recognizing all the opportunities in our lives. Here are some steps that can help us reach that point.

Maybe we sometimes need to remind ourselves of the simplicity of the process, re-connect to our inner child and understandandaccept that reality is first created in mind. Not the other way around. As adult we think we know too much and start intellectualizing & rationalizing everything.
